A change
I'm contemplating a change. A hair style change.
Knowing that a drastic length cut will spell an end to long hair forever I don't think I'm ready for that yet.
So I'm thinking of cutting a fringe. Forget the fact I've just spent a good 8 months trying to grow one out. The longer it gets the more I realise how silly I look without a fringe.
My fringe inspiration
Which style should I choose?

Daddy's Girl
Earlier this week while I was away for work, Hubby took Amelie for a visit to a local hobby farm. Amelie loves all animals and was bursting with excitement.
Later that night in a phone call she told me all about her fun day. She was so excited I could barely understand what she was saying but she assured me Daddy took some photos.
I'm so glad he did. It looks like they had a fun day.
Not surprisingly, after this visit Amelie is pleading for a few chickens of her own. We certainly want chickens but I'm unsure about the maintenance. Do you have a few chooks in your backyard? Are they easy to care for?

Gluten Free Banana Muffins - Easy Peasy!
I switched to a gluten free diet a little while ago.
In reality what it meant was swapping my regular pasta for a gluten free variety, baking the occasional packet mix gluten free cake and avoiding sandwiches of any type.
Anything else seemed too daunting.
The world of gluten free cooking appears at first glance to be a finely tuned balance of just the right amount of rice flour and cornflour and an obscure ingredient called xantham gum. What is xantham gum anyway?
Tonight I was overjoyed to discover a ridiculously easy gluten free muffin recipe that made the most soft and delicious muffins I've ever tasted. I tweaked the original recipe a little by reducing the sugar and adding a handful of shredded coconut and the results speak for themselves.
Amelie and Hubby devoured seven muffins between them!
Gluten Free Banana Muffins (with coconut)
1/4 cup milk
3 very ripe bananas
1 cup of sugar (I used half a cup of brown sugar)
2 cups of self raising gluten free flour
2 large eggs, beaten
60g butter (I used 60g nuttalex)
Optional extra: I added 1/2 cup of shredded coconut
Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix on a low speed with hand beaters (or in a kitchen aid if you're lucky enough to own one!). Mix for 2 minutes.
Spoon mixture into patty pan lined muffin trays. Bake in a 180 degree oven for 20 mins. Turn tray and bake for a further 10 mins.
Recipe makes 12 but mine made 16. Just as well considering how much Amelie and Ben loved them!

Something for me
As someone who takes a keen interest in beauty, I'm shockingly hopeless at committing to any type of routine that would take me a step closer to some beauty of my own.
I devour beauty magazines, sneakily spy on any girl I see with perfect eyebrows just wishing I had the confidence to ask where they get them done, linger over beauty counters and never say no to a sample.
Despite my love for beautiful things I can't commit to any sort of regularity in my own routine. I have a bottle of toner collecting dust in my bathroom cabinet, hair that requires a trip to the hairdressers (ironically as I type this I'm rehearsing my apology speech to my hairdresser for completely forgetting my colour appointment), oh and too many other blips in my beauty routine to mention.
A couple of months ago I surprised myself by committing to a regular nail routine. It all started when I spied a colleagues beautiful nails and begged her to tell me her secret. Her secret it turns out is Shellac. A wonder nail polish like finish that is cured under a UV light and lasts at least two weeks.
I've been getting mine done every three weeks or so (two weeks is far to regular for someone as hopeless as me) and even still they really do remain looking good until I get them done again.
I keep them short so I can continue to kid wrangle, type on a keyboard and potter in my veggie garden without worrying about chipping them.
Is there something you do just for you?

52 Weeks of Grateful: Simple
Last night I resolved we need to get out and about a great deal more as a family. Time is precious on weekends and I don't want to waste them lazing around the house all day with the tv blaring the latest footy game.
Today we ventured out to a nearby park. It is a beautiful setting. It has a great playground which is guaranteed to get Amelie excited. It doesn't take much to excite Amelie. Fresh air, the outdoors and a decent set of swings in a playground. Simple. Fun.
Someone has spied the playground and she is off!

An awesome day in the park was finished off with a few gourmet burgers and yummy chips. A lovely way to spend a Saturday and a reminder to me that we must get out more.
Thanks to Maxabella Loves for reminding me why I'm grateful at:

Happy Easter
Happy Easter to you all.
The Easter Bunny visited our house and Miss Amelie had a great time hunting for eggs in the backyard.
We spent Easter Sunday relaxing with family and enjoying a yummy barbecue and of course lots of chocolate eggs.
How was your Easter break? What did you do to celebrate?
