52 Weeks of Grateful - Kindness

This week's 52 Weeks of Grateful topic resonates loudly with me.

I am fortunate I don't have to look far to find kindness.

Take my friendly neighbour who mows my (and every other neighbour's) nature strip each Saturday in rain hail or shine.

The kind act of a passerby who dropped their shopping to leap to my help in smoothing my skirt down when it lifted in a big gust of wind.  My dignity was saved and her kindness made the moment one I now remember and laugh about rather than cringe in mortification.

Just prior to Christmas and on my way to work I arrived at the train station to find I'd forgotten my purse.  I didn't have time to go home to get it and didn't want to risk a huge fine travelling without a ticket.  The lovely guy selling espressos on the platform leant me enough money for a daily fare.  I've been buying a morning latte from him ever since.

I wonder have you experienced or given a random act of kindness lately?  I hope you have.

  1. That is sweet that the coffee guy lent you the money. He's got a customer for life now!

We have wonderfully kind neighbours in our street - I am so grateful to the wonderful ones who took the initiative to look after out house in the floods, and a lovely teen who lives on the high side of the street who went around to everyone asking if they needed help.

  2. Oh I love this post Kate, made me feel really good reading it. Also it gave me a good chuckle about your skirt, what a lovely person to come to your rescue :o) I must admit I was only thinking about this the other day, but doing kind things for people just makes us better people, it's good for the soul xo

  3. I just love them. Acts of kindness soothe the world. It means that someone is looking out for someone other than themselves at any given moment and that makes me feel like we're all gonna be all right in the end. x
